Comedy is the greatest thing in the universe. Everybody loves to laugh. Its okay to make jokes to make people laugh but its not okay to make a joke to hurt peoples feelings. There have been many times that I have watched kids get made fun off and done nothing about it. Comedy is only funny if its peaceful. I believe that when you laugh it brings some kind of happiness to your heart.
On the opposite side of the spectrum when you get laughed at it might break your heart. There was this one time I remember it like it was yesterday. I walked into Mrs. Faxons Spanish class, sat down and started to do the worksheet the sub gave us. For about the first five minutes everything was good until I watched a friend throw a muffin across the class and into the 'teachers board' The teacher looked at the class in amazement as we all sat there laughing at her. She looked so upset that it made me feel horrible for laughing. The teacher being so young didn't know what to do. She started cleaning up the huge mess the kid made. The rest of the period the kids just laughed at the teacher crying. I tried to tell the kids to stop. When the class ended I apologized to the her about what happened she "kind of" gave me a smile but I could tell she was really upset. The next day I knew that our real teacher mrs. Faxon was going to yell at us. I entered the classroom asshamed with my tail between my legs. She looked aggravated at us, she started our class by reading the sub report it was whole page front and back. In that letter she wrote that its was her first time subbing in our district and that she never will sub in highland again. When I heard that my heart kinda broke knowing I was involved with that. So now when I see my friends picking on anyone I try my best to make a difference. I know that words do hurt and sometimes they hurt more than actually physical pain.
Comedy is all fun and games until someone gets hurt. Thinking before you speak can make a big difference not just in your life. Next time you want to make a joke stop and think, is this really worth saying if someones feelings are going to hurt?
